When I was in Wilkinsons a few weeks ago I spotted some 'contact paper' - I've no idea if this is the correct name, but it's basically the plasticy type stuff that is more commonly used for backing school books. It was only 20p a roll, so I picked a roll up, knowing that at some point it would come in handy (I am always on the look out for little craft items).
A day or two ago Emma was asleep and I was struggling to think of something to do with Daniel - the weather was a bit too cool to go into the garden and Daniel was a bit grumpy as he was not long up from a nap, and it takes him a little while to come round.
I decided I'd experiment with the contact paper. I got out the paper, a tub of pom poms and a tub of tissue paper (I have loads of this stuff cut up into little pieces and scrunched into balls).
I stuck it up onto the French Doors using some paper tape I had to hand (it would be cheaper and easier to use masking tape but I didn't have any to hand).
I gave Daniel the tubs with the paper and pom poms in and he had great fun sticking them onto the sticky surface. The pompoms,as you might expect, were a little heavy and soon fell off so this is something that I can extend with him in the future when he learns about weight etc.
After he had finished I stuck a normal piece of white paper over his work, and remove the paper tape. It now hangs on the art wall.
There's loads of things that could be done with this, and I can't wait to experiment more soon.
