Sticker Fun

Whenever we get the arts and crafts stuff out, Daniel is always really into 'sticking'. I have some holographic sticker paper that I cut into shapes and he sticks onto paper etc.

I was sent a parcel of books this month to review with Daniel from the team at Little Tiger Press. One of them was this sticker activity book.

Toddler Sticker Books
The age range for this book is 3+, so a little above Daniel's age (he's 20 months) but, I thought we would give it a go. I was really surprised at just how much he understood. Clearly he isn't counting yet, but we could talk about various things and it was a good opportunity to practice colours (which he is beginning to be able to identify) and also to go through some of his sign language and to teach him some more signs.

He really enjoyed the activity, and he completely surpassed my expectations as to what he is capable of doing and understanding.

Sticking flowers
Here are some pictures showing Daniel sticking the various stickers in place - it really did require very little prompting from me as to where the various things went (eg flowers in flower pots, hat on scarecrow).

He really enjoyed this book, and we had a really nice hour - yes an hour! using this.

There are loads of different activities included, not just sticking. There are drawing and colouring activities to do, dot to dot activities, counting and writing. There is sure to be something to engage most children.

The imagery used is really clear, bright and engaging and the book itself is really really sturdy - it withstood my toddler's heavy hands!

Cheering that we got the correct sticker!
There are quite a few sticker books in this series, and I'm definitely going to be looking out for more of them as Daniel really enjoyed this book and it really is high quality.

It was a really good exercise for me too as it showed me that I should always try to stretch Daniel, and in time Emma, in terms of their knowledge and understanding - I was genuinely amazed at how he was able, at such a young age, to show me just how much he understands.

I also enjoyed having a more structured activity for him. A lot of his time is spent in free play activity and I subtlely introduce learning as the opportunity arises. This was a more structured activity and it was good to see that Daniel is OK following some basic instruction and direction.

The 123 Sticker Book can we bought from amazon and the RRP is £6.99. It's not the cheapest sticker book on the market, but with 80 pages and over 250 stickers there's a lot going on! And it will certainly be used by use for a long while yet - we are up to number three so far but we have only been sticking, we haven't drawn or coloured yet - those are activities I think I will save for when he is at the learning numbers stage.

If you liked this activity then why not pin it for future reference?

***I was sent a copy of the the 123 Sticker book in return for a fair and honest review. All words, opinions and pictures are my own.***
